Exercise Of The Week: Jumping Jack

 

From boot camp  to circuit training, jumping jacks are been featured in many hardcore workouts.


You might remember doing this exercise as a kid, on school playground or during "games" if you stayed in boarding school. Jumping jacks are exercise primarily warm-up exercise before a fitness activity and they can also be an efficient exercise for cardiovascular training .

Jumping jacks are easy to perform, but it requires some coordination to do them correctly. They function as cardiovascular, strengthening (You move all of your large muscle groups) and stress-relieving exercises.

Muscle worked: hip adductors and abductors, 
deltoids, lower trapezius, pectorals major, 
rectus abdominals, hamstrings, quadriceps, 
biceps brachia, upper trapezius
Type: Plyometrics 
Equipment: None  
Level: Beginner

How To Perform Jumping Jack

  1. Stand with your feet together and your hands down by your side.
  2. In one motion jump your feet out to the side and raise your arms above your head.
  3. Immediately reverse that motion by jumping back to the starting position.
