One of the hottest trends in exercising and weight loss is High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT).
This new form of “aerobic” exercising allows the user to lose weight faster or even break plateau. HIIT gained popularity as the best way to burn fat while holding on to muscle. Those long fast walks on an incline suddenly became less appealing. But that doesn’t mean that the treadmill itself is obsolete. On its own, the treadmill is a very effective fat-burning tool. By applying HIIT principles to your next treadmill workout, you can increase the amount of fat you burn per session – in less time.

Doing the treadmill HIIT, will make you working harder, have a slightly elevated heart and metabolic rate, meaning you are burning more calories over the recovery period as well as when you’re actually training.  Researches have shown that HIIT burns up to 9 times more fat than traditional cardio exercise and keeps metabolism high for more than 24 hours afterwards. This means you are going to keep burning calories long after you have finished exercising! another benefit of HIITis reaching a higher level of fitness faster, and increased immune system maintenance.

Give treadmill HIIT a trial the next time you get on your treadmill. See if you notice any difference.
