Go Green With Argan Oil

I first learned argan oil in 2014 from my now skincare producer/supplier and she lectured me on the wonders of this oil. I must confess I’m seeing results!

 Argan oil is vegetal oil produced from the kernels of the argan tree (Argania spinosa L.) which only grows in South-western Morocco. This incredible oil has become a hot commodity that a New York Times termed it “liquid gold.” Since its meteoric rise in popularity, the benefits of argan oil have been the subject of several research studies. The proven benefits to health of this honey-coloured substance with a hazelnut flavour are quite impressive. To date, studies show that argan oil can lower cholesterol, prevent various types of cancer, ease pain from rheumatism and arthritis and prevent or reverse several other diseases.

Rich in antioxidant phytochemicals and essential fatty acids, argan oil compose of about 80% unsaturated fat, of which about 32% is essential linoleic fatty acids and 47% oleic acid. Although its beneficial fatty acid composition has a certain similarity to olive oil, argan oil is more stable and nearly three times richer in vitamin E. The high content of healthier omega-3 fatty acids (type found in both nuts and fish) and tocopherols give it the unique capability to help reduce rates of inflammation and neutralize free radicals in the body.

As cosmetic, its jam-packed essential fatty acids, anti-oxidants, vitamins and minerals promote overall health– without harmful toxins and Parabens. Pure argan oil proven and observed benefits for hair, skin, and nails are extensive, they include;

·        Dry Skin: Nourishes and moisturizes dry, rough, flaky skin and protects against infection.
·         Irritated/Itchy Skin: Protects skin from allergens that could cause itchiness.
·         Oily Skin: Regulates sebum production to keep the skin’s natural oils at a healthy level. With regular use, the skin will no longer look or feel oily.
·         Acne: Controls overproduction of acne-causing sebum and soothes the inflammation caused by acne; also prevents the scars acne can leave behind.
·         Eczema and Psoriasis: Helps lessen inflammatory symptoms associated with psoriasis. Also addresses immunity problems and allergies that cause eczema symptoms.
·          Sun Damage: Rich in antioxidants that protect cells from UV ray.
·         Anti-aging: Stimulates renewal of skin cells and boosts skin elasticity while smoothing wrinkles and fine lines.
·         Hair: Repairs damaged hair. Moisturizes instantaneously, and prevents split ends while restoring shine. Increases hair growth and helps control, cure, and prevent dry and itchy scalp.
·         Scalp: Keeps scalp healthy and well nourished. A few drops will guard against dandruff. Keeps the roots of the hair protected, hydrated, and properly nourished.
·         Nails: Keeps nails strong and healthy and restores natural shine while easily resolving brittle nail problems.
If you want to de-clutter your dresser and make your beauty routine simplier, argan oil can become your go-to beauty elixir from head to toe. You can Use pure organic argan oil as face moisturizer, hydrating toner, rejuvenating & brightening face mask, exfoliating lip scrub and moisturizer,  face glow , leave-in  hair conditioner, hair styling sheen, overnight hair treatment, cuticle and heel softener, body and bath oil. P.S. Some brands that advertised argan/Moroccan oil are filled with silicone, fragrance, dyes, artificial preservatives and contained little actual argan oil. Make sure you aren’t misled into purchasing industrialized argan oil!

As food, argan oil is used liberally to season dishes, acting as a dressing for salads and adding flavour to tagines, couscous, grilled vegetables and desserts.

It is noteworthy to know, processing is key. The method used to processes and extract greatly affects argan oil benefits to health and the quality of the final product. Like truly authentic, 100% olive oil, note that you get what you pay for when it comes to argan oil.  If the price appears too good to be true, it is likely not 100% pure and/or was processed in a manner that negatively affects the oil benefits. Your best option is to go for only 100% organic, all-natural pure argan oil from a reputable supplier.
